At Campo Los Huemules we have accepted the challenge of proving that to know and enjoy the earth, air, water, flora, fauna, history and culture in their full potential, in perpetuity, can be done. We have thus chosen to conserve the environmental, historical and cultural patrimony as the guiding principle for Los Huemules.
Campo Los Huemules has a surface of 5,800 hectares, 14,332 acres. Its particular attributes give it exceptional conservation and tourism values. They are so important that we have committed to plan a development that will optimize them and, at the same time, protect them.
The indescribably beautiful landscapes are a true sample of the typical environments in the region, and have not been significantly disturbed by mankind. The forests are in very good condition, renewing vigorously, and the fauna is outstanding, as evidenced by the presence of the torrent duck, Magellanic woodpecker Andean condor , Andean deer, Andean red fox and Cougar.
Campo Los Huemules is right next door to two protected areas, the Los Glaciares National Park in Argentina (700,000 hectares, 1,730,000 acres) and the Bernardo O'Higgins Park in Chile (3,500,000 hectares, 8,650,000 acres). Furthermore, it has views on the greatest attraction in the region, the Fitz Roy Mountain, and the Cagliero, Gorra Blanca and Marconi glaciers are on the property.
The Marconi Glacier is the easiest access to the continental ice shelf, the third largest fresh-water reserve in the world.
